You are required to complete and pass a DOT (Department of Transportation) physical exam if you operate a commercial motor vehicle and meet any of the following conditions:

• You drive a vehicle in interstate commerce with a gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) or gross combination weight rating (GCWR) of more than 10,000 pounds
• You operate a vehicle that is designed to transport more than 15 passengers, including the driver
• You are compensated to drive a vehicle that carries more than 8 passengers, including the driver
• You transport hazardous materials that require the vehicle to display DOT placards

DOT physicals must be completed by a certified DOT Medical Examiner and are required to ensure drivers are medically qualified to operate commercial vehicles safely. You may also simply need a physical completed by FMCSA Examiner in roles such as Bus aide or attendant and can be completed satisfactorily by one of our DOT Medical examiners.

STEP 1: BOOK YOUR APPOINTMENT

STEP 2: COMPLETE YOUR EXAM
During your visit, a certified DOT Medical Examiner will review your medical history, perform a detailed physical, and conduct a urine test to assess your fitness for commercial driving. All findings are recorded in the electronic Medical Examination Report.

STEP 3: RECEIVE YOUR RESULTS
After your exam, your results are submitted electronically to the FMCSA National Registry of Certified Medical Examiners (NRCME). Drivers who pass will receive a copy of their Medical Examiner’s Certificate.
